In 2010, I graduated with a master’s degree in business management. Within two years, after working some menial jobs, I started a small business. However, it was extremely difficult to compete with the big monopolies in the market. I had to close the business due to the accumulated huge debts from loans.
During this time, I was devastated by the loss of my father. Facing financial ruin, I decided to take a bold step. It would take 40 years to pay off the debt if I stayed in Armenia. Determined not to let the debt literally rule my life, I packed my bags and moved to New York.
I came to America with the English I had practised and seven hundred dollars. In New York, I worked two jobs to pay off my debts. I worked full time as a district manager in a confectionary company during the day and as a sous chef in a restaurant at night. A short time later, I was offered a job as a café manager in New York. In three years, I managed to pay off my debts. However, I had an overwhelming feeling that I needed to put my efforts elsewhere. I had many menial jobs in the past, and I was hungry for more than that. So I decided to look for a way to make money that would satisfy me by giving me time, financial freedom, and mental stimulation.
I used to follow Tony Robbins, read his books, and watch his videos compulsively. Then one day I came across #AskGaryVee show with Tony Robbins, where he talked about his books “Money: Master the Game” and “Unshakeable”. After watching the interview, I ordered both books and started reading them. I was so excited to learn about investing that I spent hours every day after work reading books, articles, and watching videos.
Shortly thereafter, I opened a brokerage account and started trading stocks. At first, I only made small profits because I didn’t have much money. In my spare time, I was still learning about different investment strategies and securities.
Eventually, I learned about options trading and was intrigued by its potential. So I sold all my stocks and started swing and day trading options.
After six months, I started making significant profits and realized I had reached a tipping point where I believed my success rate had a significant percentage of steady increase. I started trading options with $6,000, and after three months I had made $19,200. Then I tripled the $19,200 and made over $60,000 in the next three months. At that point, I realized I could do this full time and decided to take the leap and quit my job to pursue options trading full time.
It’s been going great ever since, and I have been able to create the time and financial freedom to work from anywhere.
In September 2020, I moved from NYC to Northern Beaches, with my wonderful family and have been running my business from Australia ever since.
Magnus Investors. The Greatest Investors
“Magnus” is a Latin name that literally means “the great”, “the greatest”.
My name is Tigran Tarbiyan, and I am originally from Armenia. I was named after Tigranes the Great (Latin: Tigranes Magnus), the King of Armenia, under whom the country had its greatest expansion from the Mediterranean Sea to the Black and Caspian Seas.
However, when I lived in NYC, people had difficulty pronouncing and remembering my name.
Therefore, I adopted Harrison as my second name.
